Shortly after 9 p.m. in the 7200 block of Volquardsen Avenue, Davenport Police, Fire and Medic EMS responded to a residence for a report of gunfire and a victim.
Officers found a man with apparent gunshot wounds who had died from his injuries. The initial investigation indicates “an altercation between family members” escalated to gunfire, according to the release.
According to arrest affidavits, EMS personnel pronounced the victim dead. The victim had been shot multiple times.
Wade S. Gittings, 41, was arrested and faces a charge of first-degree murder, the release shows. He was booked at 3:44 a.m. Saturday into Scott County Jail, where he was being held without bond pending an appearance before a judge.

According to arrest affidavits, after Gittings was read his Miranda Rights, he admitted to having a physical and verbal altercation with the other man, who is a relative.
Gittings, according to affidavits, admitted he waited until the other man was in the kitchen and out of sight before retrieving his own firearm from his bedroom. Gittings then went to the victim’s room and admitted to shooting him once, then several additional times before the victim fell to the floor in a pool of blood.
Other relatives were present, affidavits say.
